Pricing

To figure out your pricing, measure your quilt top across and down in inches.

Horizontal measurement x Vertical measurement = Area
Area x Cents/square inch = Cost of quilting

Example: 70” x 90” = 6300” x $.02 = $126
or
Example: 90" x 100" = 9000" x $.03 = $270

$50 minimum on all quilts.

Quilt Sizes

I can quilt quilts up to 114" across with a backing of 122" across. If one of the measurements is longer than that, it will need to be loaded with the shorter side against the bar, regardless of pattern direction.

Backing

Backings need to be at least 4” bigger on every side than the quilt top, squared off, with selvages removed.

For example, a quilt top that measures 70x90” would need a backing that measured at least 78x98” at a minimum. Backings larger than 6” on each side may wind up being trimmed to allow for work around the edges.

Please square off backings and remove selvages.

If you need me to assemble your backing, it’s $25 for the first seam, $5 for each additional seam. I do not piece minky.

Batting

You are welcome to give me your batting to use or purchase from me. I sell Quilter’s Dream products and usually have Poly Select, 80/20, and Cotton Deluxe in stock in all sizes. If you let me know what you are looking for, I can set it aside for you or order it and make sure I have it when you come to drop off. Please make sure batting is at least 3-4 inches bigger on all sides than the quilt top. Many battings are not cut square. More batting is fine though it may get trimmed.

Thread

I use Innovatech or Glide threads. If I do not have the color you want, I will order it at no additional charge. As long as there are no thread changes, there will be no thread charge. All top and bobbin threads must match.

When using minky fabrics for the backing, all thread must match the color of the minky.

Pressing

All tops and backings should be pressed with threads removed. Dark threads on the back of the top may show through in lighter fabrics. If there are a lot of threads on the quilt top, there may be an additional charge for me to remove them. I may mist the top and/or the backing lightly with a very fine water mist to help with easing wrinkles and opening up the cotton fibers to quilting. If this will be an issue, please let me know.

Measuring

Every quilt will be measured when it is received. I measure each border at the edges and also across the middle in each direction. Minor measurement differences can usually be eased in. Please be aware that if there are major differences, I might need to spritz with water or starch to ease parts in, quilt in small tucks, or take other measures to get your quilt quilted. Nobody is perfect! Not you, not me. I will do my best so that you can be done! If there is an issue I feel I cannot address with these measures, I will contact you.

Drop Off, Pickup & Shipping

You may drop off and pick up at my home studio in Bellingham, Massachusetts by appointment only. If you have me ship your quilt to you, I can use either UPS or USPS. You pay actual shipping costs before I ship. I encourage you to add insurance and can give you an estimate of that. I will send tracking information as soon as I have it. I am not responsible for lost or damaged packages once they leave my hands.

Top vs. Bottom of Quilt

Please mark the middle of the quilt top with a pin and a note that says "top" if there is a direction that will make a difference once quilted.
